CALL FOR EVIDENCE

The purpose of the Call for Evidence document, and the accompanying appendices, was to let the public know which questions Lord Hunt thought were important, why he thought them to be important, and to provoke thought and debate. The responses that he received helped Lord Hunt and his team to answer the two questions which are at the heart of this Review:

  • What new regulatory challenges and opportunities does the Legal Services Act create?
  • What are the characteristics of 'good regulation'?

Initial Response to Evidence

Lord Hunt was delighted to report that the Call for Evidence resulted in him and his team being inundated with submissions from a wide variety of interested parties. This allowed him to write an Initial Response to Evidence document.

The document is intended to encapsulate the review team's interim thoughts. Nothing was written in stone and between the time of publishing the Initial Response and the signing-off of the final report Lord Hunt remained open to persuasion on all of the points that he made.
